WRO 2015: Test Exposure
The aim of the WRO 2015 Biennale is to give exposure to new media art experiments, individual explorations and approaches investigating the potential of art both to affect and to reflect emerging issues in culture.

Artists are invited to submit works that take on the risks of innovation, inquiry and imagination, using original observations, contemporary technologies and procedures in the process of creating inventive forms, interpreting the present and revising the notion of the future (which no longer seems to be a clearly defined project).

LIVE PERFORMANCES (presale has started)

Beyond Time
Thursday 23 February 2012
Paradiso 21:00 (hall opens 20:30) / €17.50 (discount €15.00)
Bass frequencies abound on the opening evening of Sonic Acts. Beyond Time presents an audiovisual spectacle with dubstep, subsonic minimal techno and avant-garde electronica. Roly Porter and Emptyset use the echo and low frequencies associated with dub music to create a sonic space that dislocates our perception of time. Live projections by Rod MacLachlan and Joanie Lemercier (from AntiVJ) reinforce the alienating potential of the sub-bass. Mark Fell’s radically asymmetric beats ignore time signatures completely in an infectious computer-generated recuperation of acid-house that is timed to the millisecond. The evening opens with the film De Tijd by the filmmaker Bart Vegter (who passed away in 2011). Films by Ian Helliwell and Ryohei Shimada will also be screened.

Deep Time
Friday 24 February 2012
Paradiso 20:00 (hall opens 19:30) / €17.50 (discount €15.00)

25 years of transmediale | web video – the new net art? | panel with Robert Sakrowski, Constant Dullaart, Petra Cortright, Igor Štromajer

If net art is cashing in on the utopian promise of video art, what dream does net art have left for itself? Has it come full circle? Is net.art now at its end? And is it true what the net art veteran Mark Amerika proclaims via Twitter, that “video is the new net art”?

V2_Lab and Baltan Laboratories (Eindhoven) launch a call for proposals from media labs around the world for recently produced artworks to be featured at the next edition of the Dutch Electronic Art Festival taking place from April 19-22, 2012 in Rotterdam.

V2_Lab (Rotterdam, NL) and Baltan Laboratories (Eindhoven, NL) launch a call for proposals from media labs around the world for recently produced artworks (developed by artists in labs in 2011-2012) to be featured at the next edition of the Dutch Electronic Art Festival taking place from April 19-22, 2012 in Rotterdam (NL). The intentions of the show are to provide a unique overview of the diversity and quality of work being developed at the crossroads of art and technology today, to present ‘best practices’ of different labs, and provide input for a conference on new forms of contemporary art production in the form of concrete work and working processes. Through this we aim to stimulate new productions, open up the ‘ways of producing’ of labs and fuel the debate on the socio-cultural functions of artistic research and production facilities.
