With a special event on October 27, Rhizome will premiere Net Art Anthology, a two-year online exhibition retelling the history of net art from the 1980s through the present day. Through one hundred works—restaged and contextualized on a weekly basis at a dedicated microsite—the series will take on the complex task of identifying, preserving, and presenting exemplary works in a field characterized by broad participation, diverse practices, promiscuous collaboration, and rapidly shifting formal and aesthetic standards, sketching a possible net art canon. Spook... is a distributed web based artwork which explores issues of surveillance, tracking and covert activity on the web in an interactive website based on the conventions of computer games.
On June 1st 1999 an unusual pattern of hits was noticed on the Stunned ArtZine server. Stunned ArtZine a contemporary visual art site does not normally receive a large number of hits from military sites yet unusual activity from a military server known by the identifier "gate1.mcbbutler.usmc.mil" was logged.
In response to this activity a server trace was initiated using the Stunned Spook-Bot™. Spook-Bot™ over time tracked this military server's path through the net, mapping and logging it's activities. Spook-Bot's continuing activities are an important ongoing part of this project.
This project seeks to analysis this raw data and establish a purpose for this activity. As part of this we invite visitors to submit their theories on the purpose of this server activity in the feedback section.
A version 4 browser is required. There is some Flash and some Real Audio and video, these are not essential but they add to the experience. To get the free plugins follow the links to the left of the page

Photomontage an interactive art exhibit of collage works and multimedia art projects
We unconsciously demand the application of certain elementary principles in the arrangements which surround us in daily life. These principles are so simple that when they are complied with, one is not even aware of the source of one's satisfaction. On the other hand the violation of these simple principles will give rise to a feeling of disappointment which is none the less actual for being, sometimes, quite undefinable.
The success of each project in my site, photomontage.com depends in a measure on correct balance in every sense this medium - digital art/web site - has to offer. What I build is a collage or an assemblage of interrelated short art pieces that although seemingly detached from each other, in whole, express a complete thought or statement. My site remains in a "work in progress".
THE CODEORGAN ANALYSES THE *BODY* CONTENT OF ANY WEB PAGE AND TRANSLATES THAT CONTENT INTO MUSIC. THE CODEORGAN USES A COMPLEX ALGORITHM TO DEFINE THE KEY, SYNTH STYLE AND DRUM PATTERN MOST APPROPRIATE TO THE PAGE CONTENT.
FIRSTLY, THE CODEORGAN SCANS THE PAGE CONTENTS AND REMOVES ALL
CHARACTERS NOT FOUND IN THE MUSICAL SCALE (A TO G), AND THEN ANALYSES THE REMAINING CHARACTERS TO FIND THE MOST COMMONLY USED 'NOTE'. IF THIS IS AN EVEN NUMBER THE PAGE IS TRANSLATED IN TO THE MAJOR PENTATONIC SCALE OF THAT PARTICULAR NOTE, IT BECOMES MINOR IF THERE IS AN UNEVEN NUMBER. Read more »
1.I understand that by clicking "Enter" I am acknowledging that I am a computer nerd over the legal adult lawful age of consent in my country, state, county, city and/or incorporated village and too scared to go inside a store and buy real pornography.
2. (to be filled in later)
3. I indemnify and hold blameless the godless creators of this morally reprehensible garbage for any and all damages which may result, either directly or indirectly, from accessing this material. I further assume all liability for any damages which might result from viewing, accessing, visiting this site or allowing others to do so, including having my eyes melt off my face, my brain turn into Jell-O Brand Gelatin Dessert or an increased desire to shoot at people from a book depository with a Mannlicher-Carcano. launch I-see, iSee is a web-based application charting the locations of closed-circuit television (CCTV) surveillance cameras in urban environments. launch Google Will Eat Itself
We generate money by serving Google text advertisments on a network of hidden Websites. With this money we automatically buy Google shares. We buy Google via their own advertisment! Google eats itself - but in the end "we" own it!
By establishing this autocannibalistic model we deconstruct the new global advertisment mechanisms by rendering them into a surreal click-based economic model.
After this process we hand over the common ownership of "our" Google Shares to the GTTP Ltd. [Google To The People Public Company] which distributes them back to the users (clickers) / public.
Launch No Man's Land
In her project 'No Men's Land' cym tries to capture something of the rapid changes that are happening to the borders in Central Europe. Since 1995 cym is traveling regularly between the former West- and East-European countries and she has followed the so-called 'opening of the borders' very closely. In her project 'No Men's Land' she is following the main border that used to divide Europe in East and West.

PACKED - Platform for the Archiving and Preservation of Audiovisual Arts (Brussels) and the Netherlands Media Art Institute (Amsterdam) currently execute a research project into the preservation of display and playback equipment for video art. As part of this research project PACKED and NIMk ask the cooperation from organizations, archives and individuals.
Since the emergence of the medium video, different recording, playback and display systems have been developed that got obsolete afterwards due to the technological evolution. This equipment (video recorders, monitors, projectors, .) has often become rare. But at the same time access to it is crucial to exhibit old video works and safeguard them for the future. Read more »

Featuring previously unseen works, this book is the first official monograph on the artists-provocateurs Eva and Franco Mattes aka 0100101110101101.ORG. Over the last ten years, the Mattes have manipulated video games, Internet technologies, feature films and street advertising to reveal truths concealed by contemporary society. They have created media facades believable enough to elicit embarrassing reactions from governments, the public and the art world, and they have orchestrated several unpredictable mass performances, staged outside art spaces and involved unwitting audiences in scenarios that mingle truth and falsehood to the point of being indistinguishable.
