Founded by experts from the former NIMk, LIMA is the international platform for sustainable access to media art. With knowledge and passion for both art and technology, these experts are insuring that video, digital and performance artworks can and will be presented now and in the future. Through (online) distribution of our own collection, we keep abreast of technical issues and advances. With our storage and digitisation services we are additionally able to provide support to museums, galleries and individual artists. And in collaboration with artists, museums and universities LIMA carries out research in preservation and accessibility of this segment of our cultural heritage. Launch: LIMA

BrowserBased

The Internet is not only the central media for all communication for art, discourse, (re)presentation and research, most of all the Internet is and will be a progressively dominant influence on art itself. http://www.browserbased.org/

What is BrowserBased?

BrowserBased is partly a material / technically oriented platform dealing with the browser based context as well as a net-culture knowledge base. BrowserBased is a gathering in Amsterdam with guest speakers, workshops, etc. BrowserBased is also a net-culture group blog on Facebook, found here:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/browserbased

Where is BrowserBased?

BrowserBased’s geo-marker is centered at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy, but aims to offer a platform for net related art to Amsterdam, which sadly currently is non-existent. Concentrically it also reaches out to other academies and cities in the Netherlands. The Facebook group opens its arms to the world, which is the natural habitat.

BrowserBased does not believe in academic or geographical constraints. Any handshake is welcome.

The Archive of Digital Art (ADA)

The Archive of Digital Art

As a pioneer in the field of Media Arts research, the ARCHIVE OF DIGITAL ART (ADA, former Database of Virtual Art) documents the rapidly evolving field of digital installation art for more than a decade now. This complex, research-oriented overview of works at the intersection of art, science, and technology has been developed in cooperation with international media artists, researchers and institutions, as a collective project.

Since todays digital artworks are processual, ephemeral, interactive, multimedia-based, and fundamentally context dependent, because of their different structure, they require a modified, we called it an ‚expanded concept of documentation‘. The ADA represents the scientific selection of several hundred international artists of approx 5000 evaluated artists. High importance we ascribe to artistic inventions like innovative interfaces, displays or software. ADA
